Screnzy Update!

I just realised that despite creating this blog to track my Screnzy progress I haven’t said a single thing about it since my first post!

And I know all two of my followers are incredibly curious about what’s been going so here it is:

It’s been going decently, a lot better than I expected. I just about barely managed to hit my 3 page target on April 1st but I managed to smash out about 10 more on the night of April 2nd leaking into the morning of April 3rd - which is all kinds of awesome 1. because I did way more than I thought I could in one night and 2. it meant I didn’t have to worry about hitting my deadlines for the next two days, meaning I got two days off.

Of course, those two days off are over now.

I broke a big rule and re-read some of my stuff which has lead me to delete a page or two (okay, more like 4 pages) which means I’ve gone from 13 to 9 pages. It’s annoying, but the story wouldn’t have worked in the direction I had it going.

Anyway, today (meaning Tuesday 5th) is my last day off from work, meaning the next free day I’ll have will be (hopefully) Friday 8th - which doesn’t leave a lot of time for work. What’s worse? Next week’s half term so I’m not gonna have a lot of time off to write then either. Yikes!

To try and get myself ahead I’m planning on hitting the 1/4 mark tonight, which means I’ll have to jump from 9 to 25 pages in the next few hours. I’m doing okay with that, I’ve hit 11 pages already and the story seems a lot clearer and fun to write from this point onwards. Plus, I’m fueled by determination and disappoint at the fact that I deleted some of it and that I didn’t do much writing today.

I’ll say one thing though - there’s nothing more off putting than seeing all of the people who are absolutely zooming ahead with their Screnzys. I don’t hate them or anything, I find it really impressive, I just feel a tad disappointed that I’m boasting at something others have been doing in their sleep. It’s actually kind of funny because I read about something called ‘Jonah’s Complex’ on TVTropes just today in fact:

The “Jonah Complex” in psychology, where if you fail something you beat yourself up over it because you’re not skilled enough, yet if you succeed you attribute it to pure luck and still beat yourself up over it for not being skilled.

Not exactly the same thing, I know but I think it’s similar. I know I’m doing well for me so I should really just try and keep that in mind. Pfft, if only it was that easy.

*sigh*. Okay, back to writing. Currently I’m writing to the beat of a rapper named XV and waiting for Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger to finish DL so I can have that on in the background too. If you like rap and/or geekdom you should give XV a listen, he’s born on my birthday so you just no  know he’s good at words and what not (ha.). And if you like pirates and/or Power Rangers then maybe you should give Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger a watch.

Here’s a quote from my script. Tomorrow I’ll post up a synopsis type thing along with my update.

TORA: My point was that you need to prove yourself. Centuries ago that warrior did and now it’s your turn … my other point was I know you can do it. If the things you’ve been through have taught you anything at all let it be that you have it in you to accomplish anything.

(Seriously, that is so my subconscious telling me to keep going)
